Stunning, large ruffled flowers in a deep, rich burgundy (almost black) with silvery foliage. And then after the flowers comes the large, fat seed heads….perfect for drying and using as decorations. Lovely planted in drifts

Genus: Papaver
Sow Seeds: Best sown directly in autumn (Sept) or spring (March-May). Prepare soil by digging over and raking to a fine tilth, removing any large stones etc. Scatter seeds thinly into moist soil. Always water with a rose to stop flushing seeds away
Plant Out: Direct sow as dislikes root disturbance, likes well drained soil and full sun. Pick or deadhead to encourage more growth
