Echinops ritro Metallic Blue
A wonderful flower that resembles thistles. Blue/purple in colour with magnificent leaves that are blue-green and serrated. Echinops are tall, statuesque plants that are best placed towards the back of a border. There, they will provide height and character to the space, and they will be surrounded by happy bees and other pollinators!
They thrive in well-drained soil that is exposed to direct sunlight.

Sow Seeds: Sow indoors March-May onto seed compost and cover only very lightly.  Keep damp whilst germinating. Â
Plant Out: Harden off before planting out after all frosts have passed.  Likes full sun and well-drained soil.  Can be direct sown from late April-early May
Flowers: August onwards
Height & Spread: 1.2m high x 30-60cm spread
